Organisers Ashlee Thompson and Rebecca de Gail only started planning the Anti Coal Seam Gas Rally for the Byron Bay area about a week ago after seeing the protest rally planned for Illawarra.
“When we saw the protest down south we thought we should join in,” she said.
Lock the Gate president Drew Hutton was a guest speaker at the rally, and the 1500-2000 protesters linked up to spell out “NO CSG” across main beach.
