Peoples Blockade- Day 49/Lock the Gate Festival
Another beautiful day today, even the weather agrees with what we are doing!
More people have turned out again today, with most taking a tour of Bryce’s property and being blown away at the devestation.
It was good for them to see first hand what this industry does. Seeing the destruction has been the turning point for a lot of people who were not totally convinced about commiting to this issue.
Today has been more of a consolodation of peoples commitment. This is the cause to be active in as this is the key issue for our time.
We have had many great workshops today, Our most popular workshop would be our legal matters for landowners by the EDO. Our legal situation has been explained in great detail, also extremely popular was the workshop on NON VIOLENT direct action.
We had Drew Hutton , Aiden McClindon and Libby Connors discussing the situation in Central QLD and various political/CSG issues and scenarios with supporters.
I have spoke to many in attendance, who have found the festival to be very informative.
The lovely Lisa at the Chai Tea Tent is having lots of fun, finding out info and meeting lots of people who are serious about tackling this issue. Ivan the wildlife carer has rescued an injured magpie.
We were entertained tonight with some locals Kenny and Leah(little Leah) Lawson, a father/daughter performance also John Gordon and Rouge State.
It is pleasing to see our organisers are on the ball. Reports last night of a raging campfire over near the bush, had them hot on the trail, searching for the fire. Turns out it was somewhat exaggerated. It turned out to be a large citronella candle at a campsite further away from everyone….me thinks someone was trying to have a bit of fun with our crew, sending them on a wild goose chase traipsing through the bush. They had a good laugh over it though.
Tomorrow we are preparing to step it up a notch starting with a protest march planned for Chinchilla and after that will depend on whatever opportunities arise.
All actions are NON VIOLENT!
BASECAMP is still operational, as our Peoples Blockade is still ongoing as well as the festival. We have crews on the ground keeping track of QGC operations.
So come on out to Tara and get informed, check out the destruction first hand,it will give you the motivation to take action!
