Peoples Blockade-Day 47
QGC are still hard at work, in a hurry to get finished before our deluge of supporters turn up for our Lock the Gate/Rock the Gate Festival.
One can only hope that any work they do is “up to industry standards” unlike many of the gas wells in the area which Ross Dunn of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association claimed that some of the wells leaking gas were not up to industry standards. read the article at:http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-national/csg-groundwater-concerns-legitimate-20110428-1dxpn.html and listen to the 2 sides of the Coal Seam Gas Debate at:http://blogs.abc.net.au/queensland/2011/04/the-2-sides-of-the-coal-seam-gas-debate.html
We have many people arrive already to participate in our festival and to help man our blockade.
Even the weather is on our side. It has been a lovely day, and the forecast is for more sunshine and no rain!
(for anyone who is worried about camping if the weather turns bad, there is undercover areas where you can camp.)
A surprise visitor today as we were setting up for the festival, was Senator Barnaby Joyce.
He had a chat to some of our residents and talked about our concerns and issues we have with the coal seam gas industry.
So come along to our festival, meet new people and have some fun!
