Peoples Blockade- Day 33

April 15, 2011 Debbi Group action

“Terra” the tree has lived to see another day.

Quite an uneventful day today. QGC are working flat out trying to get their project finished. No police presence today though, I guess QGC are trying to bluff their way through the weekend.

They are claiming if we go within 100 meters of where they are working, we will be charged for impeding a mining activity regardless of the fact we have not been asked to move or given a letter advising us we are impeding the activity. ( I wonder just how that would work on a 30 acre property…….they would be arresting the landowner for impeding a mining activity just by them living there.)

It would be interesting to test this one out.

Our understanding, and even the police inspector as well, is that we have to be issued with the letter and be informed we are impeding a mining activity. QGC have even locked its own contractors out of Bryce’s property.

One contractor turned up today to work, and couldn’t get in. He had to use the track that was made so Bryce could get access to his own property….A BIG NO NO as far as we are concerned, they have an access road to use, they have no need to access any more of Bryce’s property other than what is in the contract.

 MEANWHILE BACK AT BASECAMP

The tight rope has been erected, so now for the real deal……no more rope on the ground…..how many broken bones will we have by morning?

A big welcome to our new arrivals, hope you stay a few days and join in the fun.

Our blockade is ongoing, so please come along to BASECAMP whenever you can and help us fight not just for ourselves but for communities everywhere as they are next in line if we lose!!!

We welcome anyone who wants to support our NON-VIOLENT ACTION!
