Today QGC have cleared acres of bush land as they get closer to crossing Wieambilla Road to turn our residential estates into a gas field.
A front page newspaper article in Chinchilla newspaper today claims that a question was posted on the ‘Yahoo Answers’ web site asked “HOW DO I BLOW UP A CSG WELL?”
Jack Spratt was his username, and he claims he is a Tara resident involved in the protest against the gas industry.
I can confidently say that there were no Tara residents at our recent protests against QGC, who would even contemplate blowing up a gas well.
We are a non violent action group, and any violence is not condoned in any way.
Obviously the Yahoo Answers blog was a set up by somebody not happy with us protesting. You would assume that any person, who was actually considering blowing up a CSG well, would try to hide their identity, not advertise the fact they were going to do it.
Also I would have thought that QGC would be more concerned about getting to the bottom of the threats and letting the police finish their investigation, rather than trying to discredit “A LOUD MISINFORMED MINORITY GROUP”(as described by QGC).
The only violence used around the protestors is actually done by QGC/contactors themselves.
I guess this is just another example of the divide and conquer technique used by big industry when they start to worry about being shown up for what they really are.
It seems that perhaps QGC are a little bit concerned since the Tactical Response Unit has gone, maybe they are worried they won’t be able to have any more 70 year old great grandmothers arrested.(Don’t worry QGC, we have a few 80 year olds who can substitute for the 70 year olds)
It seems a coincidence that as they(TRU) leave, this story comes to light, perhaps trying to put more pressure on the government to remove valuable police resources AGAIN from where they are really needed, to babysit a group of NON VIOLENT, PEACEFUL protestors who have so far informed police of every move they make. I hope they (the police) have the good sense to enjoy the free feed QGC provides (bribes?) every day they are in attendance.
MEANWHILE BACK AT BASECAMP
Moral is still very high around the camp fire, enjoying the night under the stars in what is a beautiful place(soon to be destroyed by CSG mining) as we now realize just how wobbly QGC really are, having a chuckle enjoying a YUM YUM dinner cooked by ..…..TROY? (really cooked by Narelle), and complementing TROY and the FRACKMANS excellent fire building skills.
